In my last post I was so focused on the minutae of how I prepped the first session, that I neglected to introduce the cast of characters that make up the party. Let me rectify that now.

Dramatis Personae

Poucher the cacogen. Skeletal body & burnt-hair is interesting, but actually quite charismatic (or maybe people just do what he asks to get things over with) as they were lucky with the rolls. Nice overall stats and has a climbing hook mutation and telekinesis for a mystic gift.

Porchella the mycomorph. A big rubbery puffball head of a mushroom-person. Can release aphrodisiac spores and has an eye graft that allows them to peer around corners.

Uz the cacogen. Has scaly skin and a detachable head, a blasphemous railgun, and a hypergeometric codex that allows him to create an imperfect copy of an entity.

Arjuna the synth. Photosynthesis powered and a mirrored mask face. Decked out with a fungal laser gun, plate armor, and an alchemy kit. One of those slightly funny, slightly awkward situations where the character begins play encumbered.

Ippolit the true-kin. Subdermal insulation cybernetics, dyed-skin, orange hair, and decked out in hegemony garb. Another big gun and platemail enjoyer, though in this case just at the carrying capacity to avoid encumbrance.

Recap

The party spoke with a New-Hawk merchant named Avare, and learned about a beetle farm up the wall that is going downhill (pun not intended). Ippolit traded with the merchant for a tablet that sings poetry.

After resting up the party returned to the dungeon and picked up where they left off. They explored more of the vine-covered tunnels, and found a blue scale among the vines. They explored the tunnel to the end, where they found a corpse. As they were examining it they were attacked by a hangman vine, but they managed to destroy it. They were quite lucky that the first target that it successfully seized was Arjuna who was not harmed by the strangulation efforts. From the corpse they retrieved a broken memory crystal, a jewel encrusted dagger, and some basic equipment.

Upon going back through the tunnel the party had the foresight to look up, and found one of the geckos they were looking for slowly being consumed by a hangman vine. Although they slightly injured the gecko in the process of trying to rescue it, they were able to sooth it with food and aphrodisiac mycomorph spores. Using some rope they fashioned a make-shift leash, and continued back to the central passage of the sewers.

There they decided to hammer some rope into the wall to securely descend into the garbage pits. As they were doing that they heard the flapping of wings. They descend to see flying leeches swooping down at them. This encounter proved more hazardous. Porchella and Ippolit suffered diseased leech wounds, several weapons broke, and Uz sufferred a minor facial wound.

After the leeches were dispensed with they encountered Dolm the New-Hyena trash merchant. They gave her some food in exchange for a memory crystal repair kit. Uz decided to test his luck and eat some of the fermenting fruit and developed a stomach ulcer. They also located a second gecko and decided to exit the sewers for another rest and the end of the session.
